As a nutritionist and organic skincare educator, I’m almost ashamed to admit that it took me until now to try out the cult product, the Honey Mud from the one and only skin chef May Lindstrom. What was I thinking? You know that frustrating feeling when you know you have missed out on something for so long, but you can’t turn back the time? That’s how I’m feeling right now with the Honey Mud and ever since I started using it, I’m trying desperately to catch up on lost time and find ways to enjoy it as much as possible! Thanks to my friends at Green & Pure for knowing me well enough and for generously offering me this coveted black jar of liquid gold. I guess, looking at the exceptional ingredients, they had a hunch that I would love it. So thank you Green & Pure for knowing my skin better than I do! Now I feel like it’s my duty to return the favour and share my experience with my fellow organic skin care lovers and foodies (if you read the ingredients below, you will know why I include foodies) so they can join this skin bliss as well:
Who is May Lindstrom?
Known as the most exquisite skin chef in the industry, May Lindstrom made it her mission to create the most luxurious, effective, handcrafted products by using the finest, nutrient-rich ingredients that are sourced and harvested in a sustainable manner.
What is in the Honey Mud?
When I choose my skincare, I apply the same rule as I do with food. That means, it should only contain ingredients that I can pronounce and can picture in their original state in nature. So when I first read through the Honey Mud’s ingredients, I couldn’t decide whether I wanted to eat it or apply it on my skin. Unlike other brands, which sell honey masks, but have their so called “main ingredient” listed at the bottom, May Lindstrom’s Honey Mud’s first ingredient is in fact raw honey. How refreshingly unique is that? Not only does it still contain bee pollen and propolis, but has been also collected from unsprayed and unfertilized Californian wildflowers and rest assured, their honeybees are not harmed! If you want to learn more about this ancient superfood, then please check out my must-read here. Other ingredients worth mentioning are detoxifying White Halloysite Clay, anti-inflammatory Witch Hazel and an aromatic blend of Cacao, Sweet Orange, Ylang Ylang and Vanilla which gives it that addictive, comforting and uplifting aroma.
How to use it?
You can either use it as a daily cleanser, by applying it on damp skin, making circular massage movements and rinsing it with water or use it as your weekly mask treatment, by applying a thin layer on dry skin and leaving it on for 10-20 minutes. After using it both ways and seeing the dramatic results, I couldn’t imagine using this product only once a week. So if you want your skin to feel subtle, deeply hydrated and cleansed (and who doesn’t?), then please make this your daily cleanser!
