Glowing skin food for the fall

Summer is slowly coming to an end meaning most of us to stop playing and return to work. Wouldn't it be great if we could at least still show off that summer glow while we are being forced back inside? I donโ€™t know about you, but being able to enjoy my sun-kissed skin a little bit longer would certainly help me deal better with that post-summer funk better. Since toxic-laden skincare products and tanning beds are out of the question for me (and hopefully for you too), I found some natural alternatives for prolonging our tans at little longer!

As you know from my previous blog posts, eating a diet rich in vegetables and fruits will naturally support the health of your skin and keep it glowing throughout the year. However, there are certain goodies from nature that are specifically beneficial when it comes to improving or prolonging your tan.

Various studies over the years have proven that foods rich in the antioxidant beta-carotene, can prolong your existing tan. Donโ€™t worry, the days of consuming large amounts of carrot juice are over. Nowadays, we know that this tan-enhancing nutrient is found in so many more fruits and vegetables, than just the good old orange-coloured root veggies. To keep your tan glowing, make sure you include some of these beta-carotene rich foods into your diet (some may surprise you!):

  1. Sweet potato (check out this delicious recipe!)
  2. Kale (no Iโ€™m not colour blind, but it doesnโ€™t have to be orange to be rich in beta-carotene!)
  3. Carrot
  4. Butternut Squash
  5. Spinach
  6. Cantaloupe Melon
  7. Sweet Red Peppers
  8. Parsley
  9. Peas
  10. Romaine Lettuce

There is one more thing I would like to point out before you head out to enjoy that yummy kale salad. Yes, I know we have all heard it a thousand times, but drinking water is the most important part of your overall health and especially that of your skin. By staying hydrated, we plump our skin cells and support new cell turnover leaving our skin glowing and radiant.
